The City of Olivette Parks and Recreation

Bikeway Funding Fact Sheet

As a planning concept, the Olivette Bikeway was conceived in 1992 when it was incorporated into the city's Comprehensive Plan. In 1998, and in response to the availability of a federal funding source for bikeways, the city re-examined this concept and began a new process to refine the scope of the original planning concept. With active support from the community, the city applied for, and received, a major funding award from the Missouri Department of Transportation, to design and build the bikeway. The MoDOT award was funded through the Transportation Enhancements program of the Transportation Equity Act of the 21st Century (TEA-21). This is a brief summary of the funding sources and budget for this project.
