To maintain transparency and increase public knowledge, the St. Louis County Charter Commission will host a series of community forums.
The community forums will be held on the following dates and times:
● Saturday, September 21, at 1 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks Visitor’s Center, 345 North Rd.
● Wednesday, September 25, 6 p.m. at Manchester Justice Center, 200 Highland
● Saturday, September 28, 9 a.m. at North County Rec. Center, 2577 Redman Ave
“These forums will allow the Commission an opportunity to provide an update to the community and also receive feedback on items of high importance currently under consideration,” said Gene McNary, St. Louis County Charter Commission Chairman.
The major items under consideration are changing the charter to allow a county manager form of government, having nonpartisan elections, having an elected County Auditor, having an appointed County Assessor, and having minimum standards for municipal police departments.
Citizens looking to provide feedback on proposals, offer insight or inquire of the Commissioners are welcome to attend and may provide questions in advance by visiting www.improvestl.com. An agenda for the meeting will be available at www.improvestl.com/agenda.
About St. Louis County Charter Commission
Under the terms of the St. Louis County Charter, a commission shall be formed every ten years upon voter approval to review the charter and determine if any changes should be submitted to the voters for consideration. After voters approved the formation of the Charter Commission, the Commission has been meeting regularly since early 2019 and is seeking community input on potential charter changes.
